The hill actually known as "monte del prete" was formerly inhabited in the age of iron from people from the culture known as "Golasecca" ; the fact is confirmed from the discovering in 1971 of an ancient grave where they found an high quantities of ceramic tools.

Also in Roman age the hill has the presence of humans: the memory is given by the nice monuments in the village like ars of gneiss, tombstones with Latin writings founded around.

The most important remains are the entry tower from the castle named "di San Cristoforo", the walls and the tank (recently recovered and refurbished where we found a spring.

The castle is from the middle age and built on the basis of so called "castle fence" positioned in a panoramic place with view on the central section of lago Maggiore and view connected with other important castles on the same  lake side.
